Free 30-minute call. No pressure.
Bonnie Killip, Accredited Dietitian & HypnotherapistSound familiar?
Have you ever found yourself thinking…
- "Why have I learned everything, but still haven't actually done it?"
- "Other people recovered because they committed more than I have."
- "If I could just stop making excuses…"
- "Maybe I haven't surrendered enough."
- "Maybe I still secretly want the eating disorder."
- "Maybe I'm just treatment resistant, or beyond help."
- "Maybe I need to finally stop overthinking and just do it."
You understand exactly what needs to happen. So why does your life still look the same?
Because the part of your mind that understands recovery isn't the same part that's deciding whether recovery feels safe.
The real problem
You've become an expert in recovery. And you're still trapped.
You know so much about nutrition. You can explain your eating disorder better than most clinicians. You know exactly what your therapist is going to say before they say it. You've probably helped other people more than you've helped yourself.
People assume you're recovering because you sound like you are. But internally, you often feel like nothing has really changed.
- You still negotiate with lunch. Still second-guess. Still plan. Still bargain. Still body check. Still promise tomorrow will be different.
- Ever found yourself wondering… "How can I know so much and still feel completely controlled?"
That question has nothing to do with intelligence. It's the wrong operating system.
Why intelligent women stay stuck
The women I work with don't lack knowledge.
Most are successful in their careers or study. Many are healthcare professionals.
- Psychologists
- Lawyers
- Business owners
- Dietitians
- Researchers
- Coaches
- Perfectionists & high-achievers
They don't need more information. If knowledge created recovery, they'd have been free long ago.
Here's what we know
Eating disorders don't begin as an eating disorder.
They begin as a well-intentioned decision: that changing what I eat, or how I look, is a solution. A solution to:
Because eventually the eating disorder stops feeling like a choice — it becomes the brain's preferred solution whenever life feels uncertain. So you consciously want recovery, while another part of your brain still believes recovery equals danger.
Here's what almost nobody explains:
How to change this once it's become something we are no longer choosing. How to change it when it's become an automatic pattern that feels wrong to go against.
Where you've been working
Logic, knowledge, meal plans, insight, effort. Useful, and you've used it well. But it's roughly 5% of how your mind actually runs, and willpower alone can't outlast a pattern it can't reach.
Where the eating disorder lives
Automatic reactions, emotional associations, the beliefs and rules that fire before you've even thought. This is the part that's been driving… and the part traditional treatment rarely reaches.
Recovery doesn't fail because you don't know enough.
It stalls because your brain is solving two completely different problems.
"How do I recover?"
"How do I stay safe?"
Until those two answers become the same, recovery will always feel like swimming upstream.
Imagine…
Waking up and realising recovery no longer requires constant effort.
- You don't have to psych yourself up before breakfast.
- You don't spend an hour negotiating lunch.
- You don't mentally calculate every invitation before saying yes.
- You don't leave dinner exhausted from arguing with yourself.
You simply eat and move on with your day, move on with your life.
Not because you're forcing yourself. Because that's who you've become. Recovery stops being something you perform, and starts becoming your normal.

About Bonnie
For fifteen years, I was a very compliant patient.
I learned everything. Read everything. Understood everything. Nothing changed. And with every year that passed, my hope faded.
What was wrong with me? Maybe I didn't want it badly enough. Maybe I'd left it too long. Maybe my brain was permanently broken. I was stuck — getting so far, but never fully free. Not because I wasn't trying. Because I was trying to solve an unconscious problem consciously.
Everything changed when I stopped asking "How do I try harder?" and started asking "What is my brain still protecting me from?" That question changed my recovery. It's now changed hundreds of my clients'.

What if hypnosis doesn't work on me?
Hypnosis isn't a special talent some people have and others don't. It's a natural state your brain moves in and out of every day. Ever been so absorbed in a film that it made you cry? Ever driven somewhere and arrived without remembering half the journey? That's everyday trance, something your mind already knows how to do well. The key isn't whether you can be hypnotised. It's learning to use that state intentionally.
I've already tried everything. Why would this be different?
If you've been in treatment before, you're not alone. Almost every woman I work with has invested years into recovery, with psychologists, dietitians, psychiatrists, inpatient programs and countless resources. They don't need more information. What's usually missing is an approach that addresses the subconscious patterns keeping them stuck. Beyond Stuck combines evidence-based nutrition with clinical hypnotherapy and coaching, working with both your conscious and subconscious mind, so recovery begins to feel more natural and less like a constant battle with yourself.
How do I know if I'm ready?
You don't need to feel 100% ready. No one really does. Most people begin feeling hopeful and terrified at the same time. The better question isn't "Am I completely ready?" It's "Am I more curious about what change could feel like than I am to keep living like this?" You don't have to believe recovery will happen. You only need to be willing to explore that it can, and that's exactly what the Clarity Call is for.
What if I'm terrified of letting go?
That doesn't disqualify you. It's one of the most common experiences in recovery. For many people, the eating disorder has felt like protection, certainty, achievement, identity, control. Of course letting go feels frightening when part of your mind believes it's losing something that's helped. We don't force that part to disappear. We get curious about why it developed, honour the role it's played, and help your mind find safer, healthier ways to meet those same needs, at the subconscious level where it actually lives.
What if I've had an eating disorder for decades?
The length of time you've struggled doesn't automatically determine your ability to recover. I've worked with women who've lived with eating disorders for many years and believed they'd "left it too late." Your brain remains capable of learning new patterns throughout life. While no ethical clinician can promise outcomes, lasting change is possible whether you've been stuck for three years or thirty. What matters most is whether you're ready to approach recovery differently.
